Swiss motorway vignette

Important

The vignette is mandatory on all Swiss motorways. The fine for not having one is CHF 200.

Waze now includes the Swiss motorway vignette in its route calculations. Previously, the app could only allow or block toll roads globally, without distinguishing between the toll systems of different countries. You can therefore tell the app that you have a Swiss vignette while still avoiding tolls elsewhere, which is useful for cross-border trips in Europe.

The Swiss motorway vignette costs CHF 40 per year and must be affixed to the vehicle's windscreen. Without confirmation in Waze, the app automatically avoids motorways when calculating routes.

Enabling motorway routing in Waze

  1. Open Settings in the Waze app
  2. Go to Navigation
  3. Select Add toll/carpool pass
  4. Choose Vignette CH and confirm
Waze 'Passes' screen with the Vignette CH option to add

Once enabled, Waze will use Swiss motorways in its route calculations.

WARNING

Changing this setting in Waze does not replace the obligation to buy the vignette. The purchase must be made separately through official channels.

Testing routing with the vignette

You can test a route with the vignette enabled directly on the Waze Live Map.
